From My Moving Brain to Your Incredible Brain: New family science show comes to Humanarium
What makes your brain so incredible? How do memories form? Why does exercise help us think?
Families can explore these questions this August in Your Incredible Brain, a fun, interactive science show inspired by FutureNeuro’s My Moving Brain community engagement programme.
Presented by educator and TV presenter Mark Langtry (Mark the Science Guy), the high-energy show shines a spotlight on the supercomputer sitting inside our head. Through exciting demonstrations, audience challenges and hands-on activities, Mark will explore how our brains are built, how memories are made, why every brain is different, and how everyday habits such as exercise, sleep, food and laughter help keep our brains healthy.
Inspired by community conversations
Your Incredible Brain builds on the conversations captured through My Moving Brain, FutureNeuro’s national series of community connect events promoting brain health, physical activity and inclusion for people living with brain conditions.
The project brought together people with lived experience, families, researchers, healthcare professionals, sports teams and community organisations across Ireland to explore how greater understanding of the brain can help create more welcoming and inclusive communities.
These insights have helped shape the new show. Mark also worked closely with FutureNeuro public and patient involvement (PPI) contributors and our researchers to develop an engaging, positive and inclusive way of talking with young people about different brain conditions.
Discover the science behind your brain
Alongside exploring the science of memory, movement, and healthy brains, children will also discover what brain researchers do and why their work matters.
After each performance, families can meet FutureNeuro researchers, hear about the latest brain research taking place across the Centre, and find out how everyone can get involved in science.
Whether you’re fascinated by how memories are made, curious about why every brain is unique or simply love spectacular science demonstrations, Your Incredible Brain promises to be a fun and inspiring morning for everyone.
Your Incredible Brain takes place at Humanarium, 118 St Stephen’s Green, Dublin, on Saturday 15 August and Saturday 22 August, from 11.30am–12.15pm. The shows are suitable for children aged 7–12 and their grown-ups.
