Background
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease with significant impacts on patients’ quality of life. Personalised support and timely intervention are essential for improving patient care.
Research
This study developed a Clinical Decision Support System (C-ALS) to predict reduced quality of life in people with ALS. The system incorporated Explainable AI techniques, including SHAP, to provide understandable explanations of predictions.
Potential Impact
This work demonstrates how explainable AI can support personalised clinical decision-making and improve healthcare professionals’ confidence in AI-assisted systems.
