Rory Johnson
RORY JOHNSON is an Associate Professor at UCD where he conducts world-leading research on the structure and function of the noncoding genome and regulatory non-protein coding RNAs. Prof Johnson’s team use an interdisciplinary combination of bioinformatic and experimental methods to understand how regulatory long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) drive common diseases. His lab has developed cutting edge methods for discovering disease genes based on CRISPR-Cas genome editing and computational analysis of somatic mutations. He has held roles in major international consortia, including GENCODE, FANTOM and Genomics England. He is a highly published researcher with multiple publications in Nature, NAR, Cell Systems, Nature Genetics. His addition increases our noncoding RNA expertise and brings new screening models for therapy discovery.
