NIAMH CONNOLLY is a Lecturer at RCSI whose interdisciplinary research (computational and experimental) explores mitochondrial dysfunction and cell-type vulnerability in Parkinson’s Disease and other neurodegenerative disorders, as well as miRNA-mRNA protein networks in epilepsy. She is funded by the Health Research Board for the 4DPD-Omics project, a European study investigating molecular changes in brain cell types during Parkinson’s Disease. This project also aims to enhance understanding of Parkinson’s and create 4D cell profile representations as educational resources for medical professionals, students, and the public. She is also funded by Horizon Europe through the MSCA as part of the ‘AIPD’ project, which is a European industrial network dedicated to training doctoral candidates in AI and machine learning techniques tailored for personalised medicine and digital health, specifically focusing on Parkinson’s Disease.
