DENISE FITZGERALD is Professor of Neuroimmunology at Trinity College Dublin and Queen’s University Belfast, and a Principal Investigator in FutureNeuro. Her research focuses on understanding how the immune system supports brain repair and regeneration, particularly in multiple sclerosis (MS). Funded by a €6.26 million Research Ireland Research Professorship, she leads a multidisciplinary programme investigating how ageing alters immune cell function and limits recovery in the brain. Internationally recognised for her contributions to neuroimmunology and regenerative neuroscience, she is committed to advancing translational research, clinical trials, public involvement, and all-island collaboration in neurological research.
